Homenagem à obra de LUCIANO FREIRE

I.P.

"...In the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century, Portuguese intellectuals were aware of the trends in conservation and restoration that spread in Europe. They shared some of the ideas and thoughts, although sometimes revealing a mixture of values and influences that were antagonistic. The conflict between looking for the original (form and appearance) and achieving the harmony of the whole artwork during the conservation process resulted in mimetic reconstruction.
... In fact, this is the novelty introduced by Luciano Freire and José de Figueiredo: these two men based their opinions and intervention decisions on critical judgments, founded on the opinion of the interdisciplinary team that, although small, worked to perfection, since the parties had a mutual respect and similar status."
